1. Teach and train a group of neophyte aid administrators what they need to know to be contributing and effective professionals on their campuses.
2. Recruit members of MASFAA who have extensive experience in financial aid to serve as trainers.
3. Plan and administer a training workshop for approximately 15 trainers in August.
4. Provide NASFAA Core materials and the previous year’s MASFAA Just the FACTS! Power Point slides to each trainer. These materials will be used to create customized and up-to-date presentations in a modular format.
5. Plan the training series to occur over a 5-week time span in the fall. For 2009-10, the workshops will occur in the Boston area at Wellesley College. Since our location was Worcester/Holy Cross in 2008, we opted to go with a location in the Boston area that would be accessible to public transportation. The Framingham commuter line stops in Wellesley Center and is about a 10 minute walk to campus.
6. For 2009, participants will not be charged to attend the training but will need to purchase lunch on their own. Wellesley College does not require catering when using their facilities.
7. Announce the workshop series to the MASFAA membership; anticipated participation not to exceed 30-35 trainees.
8. Produce and distribute binders of the modules to the trainees as well as handouts for each week’s PowerPoint presentations.
9. Conduct a debriefing and evaluation of the workshop series in November/December.
